If you are thinking about treating your partner to a last-minute Valentine’s Day getaway in a new and exciting destination (but one that also has the familiar feel of home), you should be sure to book one of our wonderful Guernsey holidays packages.

Wherever you choose to stay on our beautiful island, you will be able to look back for years to come on a break that was memorable for all the right reasons. We know, however, that you probably want to find something a bit special to celebrate the most romantic time of year with your loved one, so below you will find our top recommendations for where to spend the perfect Valentine’s Day in Guernsey.

The Farmhouse Hotel (4*)

The excellent Farmhouse Hotel is found inland, towards the south of the island, and is arguably the most romantic accommodation option for couples visiting Guernsey. If you love the idea of staying in a cosy country hideaway but prefer your hotels to be more modern than traditional in terms of their look and feel, this could be your ideal choice.

One area in which the Farmhouse Hotel does showcase traditional values, however, is in its hospitality, with the customer service here being consistently high-quality. The warm welcome you are assured of receiving is matched by the elegance of the rooms, many of which boast such desirable features as a balcony, a free-standing bath and luxuriant furniture.

This charming hotel has a great swimming pool outside (you’ll be pleased to hear that it’s heated!) but wandering through its lovingly-tended lawns is possibly an even more popular way for guests to while away the hours. Something else that is often remarked upon is the hotel’s air of informality, which will help you and your partner to truly relax once you arrive and belies the first-class dining you will experience in the a la carte restaurant.

Most romantic feature: Surrounding the pool, there are several wooden gazebos that look like the kind you would typically find at a South African safari lodge! You can reserve one of these gazebos for a lovely, private romantic meal, whatever the time of year (heaters and blankets are available to warm up your Valentine’s evening).

Bella Luce Hotel (4*)

A proud member of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World group, the Bella Luce is recommended for those who want to experience the very definition of a traditional country house that has now been transformed into quality boutique accommodation – it is set in a 12th-century manor and has just 24 rooms!

Whilst hotels like the Bella Luce are hardly common, it is not alone in offering their guests luxurious rooms in an intimate countryside setting, fittingly accompanied by stunning dining and an excellent health spa. Where this destination can quite possibly claim to be entirely unique (certainly in Guernsey!), however, is in the fact that it also has its own gin distillery, which you and your partner are welcome to visit.

As home to the highly-regarded Wheadon’s Gin distillery, this remarkable hotel allows guests to enjoy a memorable few hours exploring all the rooms where the magic happens and learn about the history of this most fashionable of drinks – and, of course, there are plenty of tasting opportunities! What better way to spend a cosy evening with your special someone?

Most romantic feature: The Bella Luce’s luxury-grade rooms include beautiful four-poster beds and afford magnificent views of the hotel’s tranquil garden – you will feel like you are waking up in a Jane Austen novel!

Duke of Richmond Hotel (4*)

Located just a stone’s throw from the centre of St. Peter Port, the capital of Guernsey, the Duke of Richmond harks back to the glamorous and glitzy town hotels that were all the rage with tourists in the pre-war era (and, indeed, the 1930s is when this historic place truly blossomed into life as one of Guernsey’s premier accommodation choices).

Successfully blending a traditional atmosphere with contemporary amenities, this hotel would be perfect for couples who want a great hotel experience but would also like to be on the doorstep of the island’s busiest town, with all its wonderful restaurants and other attractions.

The largest hotel on our list, the Duke of Richmond offers enticing highlights such as a heated swimming pool and the ornately-styled Leopard Bar & Restaurant (you can guess the theme of the décor!), but surely its biggest selling point is its setting. A convenient walk from the buzz of St. Peter Port, the hotel is also just a minute away from the beautiful Candie Gardens, which can probably claim to be the best public garden in the whole of the Channel Islands; enjoy some quality time with your partner as you stroll along the paths and admire the expertly landscaped grounds.

Most romantic feature: Many rooms in the Duke of Richmond offer stunning sea views. What could be more romantic than sipping something sparkly with your loved one whilst gazing out over the ocean? And, if it stays dry, you could even wrap up and enjoy a bracing drink on your private balcony!

La Frégate Hotel (4*)

Last, but certainly not least, on our list is La Frégate Hotel. Very close to the Duke of Richmond, on the other side of Candie Gardens, this hotel is – in many other ways – completely different from its neighbour. With just 22 rooms, it is one of Guernsey’s finest boutique accommodation options and is ideal for couples seeking a short but memorable break.

One thing that separates La Frégate from most of its contemporaries (not just in Guernsey but anywhere) is that guests can choose to stay in either the 18th-century house that forms the main part of the hotel or, if they prefer a more modern feel, in the recently completed new wing. Whichever kind of room you choose, however, you can relax in the knowledge that the quality of the service provided will be consistently first-class.

From luxurious linen to iPod docking stations, you will find that everything about your bedroom – whether you opt for a standard, bay view, deluxe room or a suite – has been meticulously prepared, allowing you and your partner to enjoy a totally stress-free stay. There’s even a rubber duck in every bathroom, which shows the team at La Frégate really have thought of everything!

Most romantic feature: Dining in the restaurant at La Frégate is, quite simply, amazing and will bookend your day exploring Guernsey in the most idyllic way imaginable. Every aspect of this restaurant is the epitome of romantic, from its sea views to its incomparable wine and champagne lists.
