Shell Beach is the gem in Herm’s crown

About Shell Beach, Herm

Shell Beach is the gem in Herm’s crown. White sands lapped by turquoise waters, this is one of the main draws for many visitors to the island. The beach gets its name from the millions of tiny shells that have been washed up by the Gulf Stream and this is what gives the sand it’s flawless colour.

The beach is on the north coast of Herm with views across to neighbouring Guernsey. You approach the beach through sand dunes and there is plenty of space for everyone on this shallow beach which is perfect for families. At low tides, rock pools reveal themselves which add further entertainment for visitors of all ages.

The beach is a 15 minute walk from Herm Harbour and there is a café on the beach serving hot snacks, cold drinks, sun cream, inflatables and of course, icecreams!
